I tried a different tact that I’m sure my ped. would not think is good, but, but… I laid her face down with my legs propped across between the coffee table and the sofa. Her face was between my legs like when I go to the acupuncturist. I tried it yesterday with moderate success and then again today. She lifted her head a number of times. Ok we’re not talking balancing on her elbows or anything, but I was thrilled to see the few inches
. Next up? I’ll try laying with her on my belly as number of you suggested.

you know, I never EVER did tummy time until about the 5th-6th month. Like just NOW am I doing it with karl. I did this with each baby. ANd each baby walks upright without dragging their heads on the ground.
So do what keeps your baby comfie. I never did it when they’d just cry. Sure, my babies probably lifted their heads a little later, but what’s a few weeks in babyhood?
remember you are the mommy and you get the make the end decisions.

I had no solutions either to the last post. Phoebe hated tummy time and I’d only do it until she really was mad and then I’d let her roll over.

Honestly Merlot, I can’t even remember “tummy time” being mentioned when my boys were babies (13 and 10 years ago). I know it definitely wasn’t an issue because it wasn’t a requirement at that time (at least, not according to my docs). And you’ve seen my boys and know that they’re just FINE. One of the ways I used to hold them was to just lay them across my knees while I was sitting down. That’s tummy time, and their faces aren’t in the floor, and it really strengthens their neck muscles. Other than that, I don’t remember doing much else with regard to tummy time.

I still hate tummy time.
I think your kid will be okay – she’ll get neck muscles soon enough.

we are very sporadic with tummy time & caiden’s been just fine holding herself straight when sitting (supported of course!) she lifts her head & is hitting all her milestones on time. she only really likes being held yet still manages to half roll over whenever she naps onto her side. so LG will be just fine. as long as she’s happy & healthy a few less or more creative tummytime minutes are not going to matter!
just remember that we probably didn’t get all this scheduled time as infants & we’re okay too!
LG is absolutely gorgeous! she looks like a cute little peanut!
